Cars for a Cause

    The Club did not host a show in 2009 as we wanted to move our show to the Spring of 2010.  A show in October and another in March of 2010 would have been too much to ask of
    our members and our sponsors.

    The club members and some generous sponsors donated items and money for the Super Cruise-N held in October to raise, at least, some money for our charities in 2009.  We were
    very excited with the result and what we were able to raise for them.     Our many loyal supporters stepped up to make the event a success.

    We made the donations in December rather than in the New Year as previously done.     The charities also had a large decrease in donations this year due to the economy and we
    felt they needed money as soon as possible.  

    The following contributions were made:

  •        The Child Advocacy Center - 3000.00
  •        Mulherin Home - 1500.00
  •        South Alabama Neo-natal Center - 500.00
  •        500.00 each during the year to two different children's families who faced large  financial expense for  major illnesses



    Past Time Cruiser members chose as their special
    Christmas project this year to help the Mulherin Home since
    their donations had dropped so much.  

    The members took one or more names of residents and
    purchased a gift and other small items to fill a large
    stocking for them.   We delivered it to the facility and spent
    some time with the residents who were not at work during
    the day.  It was great fun - you get lots of hugs and smiles
    while you are there - even sang Christmas carols.

    In addition to the Christmas gifts, we took some
    housekeeping supplies to help defray those costs a little.

    All members left feeling a little more humble and thankful
    for what we all have in our lives.
